For seven years I built a brand. Six hundred stores across Europe, tens of thousands of sunglasses a month, cars with our logo on them. We were in the top three distributors on the continent.
That was the peak. A few months later there was nothing left.
In eight months it was gone. The stock never arrived. The emails went unanswered. My customers started to think I had cheated them. I fought it until there was nothing left of me, and then I gave up.
After that I was in it for six years. Six years of a trustee, paperwork, accounting for money that wasn't there. Six years without a place of my own, sleeping at my mother's, post with nowhere to go. And every day back out into the world as someone who was making it: the right clothes, the right answers, the right photographs.
