TINY ( Ebook )

He left. And she followed him.

For sixty years she shared everything with him. When my grandfather died, my grandmother was left in a house that was too quiet. And not long after, she began to forget.

At first it was small things. A story told twice. A pan left on the stove. A name that wouldn't come. We all saw it, and none of us said anything — because as long as you don't say it out loud, it isn't anything yet.

After that it went fast. The driving licence. The keys. The house. The names of her grandchildren. Each one a small funeral nobody attended. But with dementia the most recent memories go first and the oldest go last. So while she lost everything, he stayed. The man who was no longer there was the last thing she had left.

This is not a book about dementia. It is a love story that happens to have an illness in it.

For everyone who stays sitting in the car between two visits, because inside it got to be too much.
